I can look and see

I can look at you, and see
    a man.
I can look into you, and see
    the leader you are.
I can look behind you, and see
    the great leaders
    that have come before you.
I can look through you, and see
    the guiding hand that shaped us all;
    call it God, call it evolution
    just call it by what it is before me:
    the irrepressible human spirit
    a beacon lonely and powerful
    in a dark indifferent Universe.
